Project Blueprint

Blueprint is an Electronic Arts sponsored project with Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center during the spring 2017 term. I'm working as a programmer on a team of 6, consisting of 2 other programmers, 2 artists, and a producer. Our goal is to translate the functionality of the Build Mode from Sims 4 into virtual reality. The biggest challenge is finding a way to translate all the 2D UI elements from the desktop game into an intuitive virtual interface. We are using the HTC Vive as our VR platform, so that our players will be able to move around in space as they construct their houses. I have been working on implementing various gameplay mechanics and writing shaders that create different highlighting effects to provide clear feedback to the user.
